Kundalini Global now offers a radical & inclusive pregnancy yoga teacher training.

Set over 5 modules, and delivered via Zoom, all modules are compulsory for 100 hours of Yoga Alliance certification. This course is open to all yoga styles.

Module 2: Changes during pregnancy relevant to posture, breath & ritual. Contracts and agreements, Partner work

Module 3: Yoga postures, working with sequences, Meditation and pranayama

Module 4: Working towards labour, Fear of Labour. Trauma relative to pregnancy. Teaching and promoting these classes. Being radically inclusive

Module 5: First 40 days, Mothering the mother. Wrapping and binding the mother. Neo-natal loss. Cesarian recovery. Closing the bones. Depression & psychosis.

Each of these 5 modules will be two days long, 10 hours each day. I will have someone with me each module to show the work to you; a body to use to demonstrate postures and to discuss postures, adjustments & issues with.

This training is ONLY for those with a Level 1 yoga teacher training certification.

To certify as a pregnancy yoga teacher you will need to pass the exam. Feedback from the recent course

Being a pregnancy yoga teacher is so much more than knowing how to give a yoga class to a group of pregnant people. It’s understanding the countless ways pregnancy can affect the body, and being able to adjust every posture and breath to meet the highly individual conditions in the room. It’s understanding how sacred and momentous this period of time is for the client. It’s being able to hold space for the enormous spectrum of (potentially unspoken) emotional, mental and spiritual states in the room, which are as important as any physical condition. It’s knowing the cultural, religious, political, financial, social and personal factors that make one person’s experience of pregnancy and birth entirely different from that of the person on the next mat. It’s understanding that any gender can give birth, and that a family unit can be made up of any number of people who have committed to being a family, that a parent is anyone who has committed to being a parent.
And it’s using this knowledge to help every client leave the room feeling better than when they walked in.  It’s ensuring that they feel understood and supported, that they know they have a community they can rely on. A community that gets it. That gets them.
Having attended many pregnancy yoga classes when I was pregnant, I know that it’s an extraordinarily rare training that empowers its teachers with this exceptional level of knowledge and expertise.
Carolyn Cowan and Kundalini Global have created the world’s first Radically Inclusive Pregnancy Yoga Teacher Training, and pregnancy yoga will never be the same again.
What an excellent thing it is to be part of the movement!

“Such an amazing workshop!

We talked about rituals, philosophy, science, religions, life and the universe.

I sipped tea surrounded by the scent of incense and talking with people from everywhere.

It was an oneiric journey!

Carolyn nourished my soul and gave me a pair of wings!

RIPY modernised the way I teach all forms of yoga, expanding my vocabulary of inclusivity and deepening my awareness of the breadth of human experience. It was a pleasure to train with Carolyn and a dedicated group of people with diverse perspectives. How eye-opening that pregnancy yoga can be taught in this honest, pragmatic and deeply compassionate way—and, really, it must be, if we actually want to help pregnant people in these unpredictable times. With this training, pre- and postnatal teachers of all backgrounds will be able to provide their students with tools that last long beyond 9 months.

Theory, posture, breathwork, meditation, break-out groups, the honesty in discussion, the sharing, the practical sessions, the people – what a fabulous way to undertake teacher training for the pregnant person. Learning modifications in posture, the hormones at play, how to be safe in your practice & the awareness of the changes in the body – the list is endless. Carolyn’s knowledge base and experience is the cherry on top of this most delicious and mind blowing cake.

The radically inclusive pregnancy yoga training was incredibly detailed, beautiful and broad, informative to say the least, learning about unspoken things in the pregnancy world and it moved me in unimaginable ways. I can’t imagine learning how to teach pregnancy yoga with anyone else other than Carolyn who has so much expertise as a doula and a person who has taught pregnancy yoga for 3 decades.  It’s a big thing to teach yoga for pregnant people and as a person who hasn’t given birth it has brought so much awareness to my life as a yoga teacher, a friend, a family and community member. After the training and all the learning, I definitely feel inspired to teach in a world where there seems to be a lack of inclusivity and truth for the pregnant person.  I’ve learnt some invaluable things, evolved more, made epic memories with other KG members and met fabolous new people. I have loved it, and it will be an absolute privilege to teach radically inclusive Kundalini Global Pregnancy.

Carolyn’s Radically Inclusive Pregnancy Yoga Teacher Training was an extremely cool experience as a yoga teacher who also happens to be a mother of three children with all kinds of stories attached to what it took to get to this point. . .

The unfathomable amount of knowledge that Carolyn has of the pregnant experience, the pregnant body, about what happens to us, the identity changes, that come with pregnancy, made the quality of this training superb.

The yoga was epic, the sacred aspect of it all was so very lovely, the group was intelligent, kind, diverse and fun and we had so many, so so many, interesting discussions. The focus on the inclusivity of all pregnant experiences is so important and I do not think others are working in this way so it is a privilege to be trained to do so.

I feel that I come out of the other end rather expert on how I can work with pregnancy as a yoga teacher and, within that, where much of that experience is none of our business at all. As lots of us said on the training, we learnt loads that will be useful in all of our work as yoga teachers… the reflection it invited and the skills we have learned will be game changing for me in every class I teach. I have no doubt.
