Magnificent Miracle Bends

The fabulous, transformative, Miracle bends are what you can come to know and love as the way many Kundalini Global classes climax.

Not only do they make you feel excellent, not only are they enormous fun, but they are, energetically, about expanding the reward of the effort that’s gone into a class to that point, working to expand your kinesphere. Your could replace that word, kinesphere, with aura, electromagnetic field… it is about the expansion of self. The ability to step out, beyond class, able to hold yourself in presence and experience the world around you differently, as a result.

If you have ever done a class with @carolyncowanofficial you may recognise the stick people here engaging in the invitation to use Miracle Bends as an opportunity to shower your yoga mat with rose petals and ecological glitter, allowing you to lie down in a magnificent pile of your own magic to relax.

To find your next Kundalini Global class, head to our website for listings from many of our teachers:

In part three, @carolyncowanofficial shared with us that her first experiences of Kundalini Yoga were a challenge, and yet…

She not only loved how it made her feel, but decided to do the first European teacher training. That said, she still didn’t plan to teach.

Stay tuned for the next parts of the story, as we move toward Carolyn founding Kundalini Global (a journey from the ‘90s to now!)

From @carolyncowanofficial

I began working on the Kundalini Global teacher training in 2018.

The first training began, in London, at the start of 2020. Since then, six trainings have taken place and over 150 trainees have taken part.

The majority of these trainees are now active teachers, out in the world sharing the practice.

More teachers certify as the months pass.

I wanted to create change in how teachers view their role, a training that encouraged extremely well-informed, open-minded, and inclusive teachers with excellent boundaries, and a form of yoga that was kinder, more accessible, and much less alienating that some of what I (and very many others) have experienced elsewhere.

The next round is hybrid. Two in person modules and three online. The in person modules will be taught in a hybrid format for anyone who cannot make it to Battersea, London, in May and September.

Spinal Twists.

Magnificent. Slowed down. Kundalini Global style.

As @carolyncowanofficial always says, this movement is to give your diaphragm a workout. Eyes closed. Sitting beautifully. Begin with empty lungs. Elbows up, thumbs in front of the shoulders, fingers at the back. Twist as far as you can to the left. Inhale. Carry your full lungs all the way across, as you twist as far as you can to the right, exhale there. Then empty lungs carried, again, all the way to the left. Inhale. Continue. Inhaling on the left. Exhaling on the right. Slowly. Slowly. Keep it slow.

Notice all of the thoracic muscles are being stretched. It is divine. You land right in your body. Notice that.

A magnificent gift.

Part One of Ten

We asked our founder and lead trainer @carolyncowanofficial to tell us about her journey toward and with Kundalini yoga and the story she shared is so good, we are splitting it up into several parts.

How did she go from being in the early stages of addiction recovery to photographing nomads to teaching yoga… it’s quite a story.

Follow the coming parts over the next week.

From @carolyncowanofficial

“I think the story goes that you make it up. There is certainly no defining book on what spirituality looks like. You can be, do, anything you want.

For a lot of people, perhaps particularly in yoga, it’s related to a rejection of religion. One of the reasons I’ve started Kundalini Global was that so many people come who come to my classes are Muslim, or Catholic, and I feel it’s important to create a space for those with all religious or non religious belief systems to explore yoga and, potentially, a means by which to encounter the divine of their understanding.

If I was to be consider what is it to be spiritual, I may say it is about taking care of my own sense of divinity.

What do I do with that? What do I do about that? How can I polish, magnify or express it?

If you’re new to this idea, your first question might be how can you get in touch with that sense of divinity to begin with?

I do think it is valuable to consider getting in touch with the possibility that we have a spark of divinity within us. All of us. I say that not only as someone who has explored religious and spiritual belief systems for many decades, and the experiences that’s afforded me, but also as a therapist.

What is our responsibility to that little spark of divinity? That’s the question I want to ask.

I cannot answer for you. I can answer it for myself… too long an answer for here, but it’s about integrity, a lovely word internal grit.

It is about active daily self care. It is about choosing that by yourself, for yourself.”

@carolyncowanofficial began working on the Kundalini Global teacher training in 2018. The first training began, in London, at the start of 2020. Since then, six trainings have taken place and nearly 200 trainees have taken part.

It’s time, Beautiful People. The Seventh Iteration

It’s time, Beautiful People. The Seventh Iteration of the Kundalini Global Yoga Teacher Training begins in May.

Make a commitment. Start now. Train with @carolyncowanofficial to be an excellent teacher and, in the personal, start a path of real transformation.

Shed old habits, old ways of being and thinking, break cult thought and move up into new levels of consciousness.

It is hard to take the leap because we fear change, but the rewards of doing so are enormous.

The way forward, in these times, is to take personal responsibility for yourself.

As a Kundalini Global yoga trainee and teacher, the invitation is to own your power and the infinite possibility that opens up when you can stand, as yourself, knowing what it is you have to say and offer in order to serve with integrity in these most challenging times.

Do Something Amazing: The 220-Hour, Foundational, Kundalini Global Yoga Teacher Training 2025.

Train with @carolyncowanofficial over five, four-day modules, between May and October 2025, and take yourself on as you arm yourself with the skills and knowledge necessary to be an excellent teacher.

From Carolyn:

“You’ve got to, slowly, gently, consciously, become more present.

That’s the invitation that I make to trainees on the @kundaliniglobal teacher training.

Or not.

It is always a choice. Of course it is, but I believe that, if you are going to teach something like yoga, it all begins with that… with the ability to notice. How do you feel? “That’s interesting, I feel anxious. Why? What do I want to do with that?”

The ability to choose, from there, to regulate, to choose presence, to begin to wake up to how much you’re allowing things outside of yourself to impact your experience of the universe and of yourself. . .

I can promise you that it starts you on a very interesting path.

The teacher training begins in May. We have the first of five, four day, modules. It’s either online or in person in Battersea. Four more modules happen in the following five months.

From Charlotte:

Midwinter online mini-retreat

27-31 December 2024, via Zoom

Owing to popular demand, I’ll be hosting a mini-retreat in the period between Christmas and New Year. This is a wonderful time of year to dedicate some time and space to support yourself as you reflect on the previous year and begin to turn towards your intentions for the new year. It can also be a time of holiday activities and family commitments. This retreat is designed to accommodate both - we will spend 90 minutes together each day for five days (sessions will be recorded in case you can’t attend live), exploring a range of practices within a retreat container which is designed to hold you as you spend the rest of the day in whatever way works best for you - whether that’s meditation practice, outings with family, or eating Quality Street and wondering what day of the week it is…

17.00 U.K. / 12.00 EST / 09.00 PCT each day

Yoga in your head/unpretentious/dogma-free Podcast

The Podcast (in German) is about topics like perfectionism (on and off the mat) and how to loosen that grip - hopefully an inspiration to a kinder perspective on our humaness and how Yoga tools help with that.

My foundation is Kundalini Global Yoga by Carolyn Cowan, my 39 years on this planet, and inspiration from conversations, movies, books (many), podcasts.

Carolyn is currently teaching her Mastering the Addictive Personality course. She leaves you in the very tender hands of Julie, a Kundalini Global teacher based in Dubai. Julie’s classes are wonderful and will offer you an excellent reset.

The Kundalini is the ability to actually be divine.

When we move, when we flex the spine, we can say that we are playing with the divine within the body, the Kundalini.

We can move from stress, from chaos, right into ‘boom, I’m right here.’ Over time, we can learn to stay there.

Book via @carolyncowanofficial - you will find the link via her bio.
