Altered States: The Breath. 60 Hours.
Pranayama, or control and manipulation of the breath, is one of the many practices of the multi-faceted system of yoga. The breath is a vital life force, and these various practices bring about many benefits including the management of stress, clarity of mind, and hormonal as well as lung health. The breath regulates our body on its many planes – emotional, physical, spiritual and psychological. How we breathe gives us insight into the relationship we hold with our own state of being. Mastering Addiction: The Path out of Hell. 70 Hours
Do you have an addictive nature? Most of us do, one way or another, but not all of us enjoy the experience, and some of us are very ready for a potent change. I classify an addictive nature as using anything from anxiety, self-harm, eating disorders, and or rage, all the way through to excessive drinking, gambling and drug use, as a way to manage how we feel. It is a broad brush, but have you ever tried to give up one of your behaviours only to find that you quickly move towards another?
Prayer can bring solace, stillness, faith, presence, relief, succour, comfort and much much more. It can bind us together and asks us to belong. Prayer comes into yoga, it does. Prayers to Shiva, Ganesh, Guru Ram Dass and many others in the arcana of Sikh & Hindu mantras. It does not seem to enter in any other form and it is time that prayer and gratitude take their rightful place in the architecture of yoga as much as they do in religion and other forms of worship. Shame is a dark and uneasy emotion lurking within the depths of our psyche, which when stirred, fires up a host of painful emotions and a deep and unavoidable desire to change how we feel, and thus, is a major trigger for the addictive personality. Shame is insidious, hard to identify, awful to feel, tricky to contain and easy to pass on.
In this 3 day workshop we will focus on where we hold shame, where our family holds shame, in what areas of our lives we feel shame, and how much we mask its hold upon us with perfectionism. We will identify our core wounding. For more information and to book your place please click here.
